Antenna Array Miniaturization using a Defected Ground Structure

A novel Defected Ground Structure (DGS) is proposed to miniaturize a 2×2 Modified Corporate Feed Planar Antenna Array (M-CFPA) with modified corporate feeding network. The DGS altered the surface current distribution and shifted resonance frequency lower side. After running parametric sweep of length width patch antenna element, achieved miniaturized array resonating at 2.4 GHz frequency. designed using Rogers/RT Duroid 5,880 ( ) substrate thickness 1.6 mm. overall dimensions (PA-DGS) 25.2723 % lesser than M-CFPA. M-CFPA has peak gain 11.53 dB - 10 reflection coefficient bandwidth 118 MHz. PA-DGS exhibits 9.51 100 MHz -10 bandwidth.
