Anomaly constraint on chiral central charge of (2+1)d topological order

چکیده
In this short paper, we argue that the chiral central charge c− of a (2+1)d topological ordered state is sometimes strongly constrained by 't Hooft anomaly antiunitary global symmetry. For example, if fermionic quantum field theory (TQFT) has time-reversal with T2=(−1)F labeled as ν∈Z16, TQFT must have c−=1/4 mod 1/2 for odd ν, while c−=0 even ν. This generalizes fact bosonic T in particular class carry c−=4 8 to cases. We also study such constraint U(1)×CT symmetry, which regarded gapped surface superconductor AIII.Received 5 January 2021Revised 16 March 2021Accepted 12 April 2021DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevResearch.3.023107Published American Physical Society under terms Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. Chiral symmetry breaking and charge order
A charge-density wave (CDW) is an ordered state that breaks translational symmetry and is characterized by a modulation in the electronic charge density as well as a corresponding modulation in the spacings of the underlying ionic lattice. It may be formed in a material if there exists a mechanism for transferring electrons from an electronlike part of their Fermi surface to a corresponding hol...
متن کاملExact chiral symmetry, topological charge and related topics
Chiral symmetry plays an essential role in particle physics. In QCD it is a global symmetry which forbids an additive quark mass renormalization and whose spontaneous breakdown provides us with (nearly) Goldstone bosons with their specific interactions. On the other hand, in electroweak interactions chiral symmetry plays an even more fundamental role: it is a local gauged symmetry. Its presence...
متن کاملComment on: Topological invariants, instantons, and the chiral anomaly on spaces with torsion
Quantum anomalies both in the Riemannian and in the Riemann-Cartan spacetimes were calculated previously using different methods, see e.g. [11,25]. However, recently [3] the completeness of these earlier calculations have been questioned which all demonstrated that the Nieh–Yan four-form [18] is irrelevant to the axial anomaly. For the axial anomaly, we have a couple of distinguished features. ...
متن کاملChiral projected entangled-pair state with topological order.
We show that projected entangled-pair states (PEPS) can describe chiral topologically ordered phases. For that, we construct a simple PEPS for spin-1/2 particles in a two-dimensional lattice. We reveal a symmetry in the local projector of the PEPS that gives rise to the global topological character. We also extract characteristic quantities of the edge conformal field theory using the bulk-boun...
متن کاملChiral Anomaly on Fuzzy 2-Sphere
We investigate chiral anomaly for fermions in fundamental representation on noncommutative (fuzzy) 2-sphere. In spite that this system is realized by finite dimensional matrices and no regularization is necessary for either UV or IR, we can reproduce the correct chiral anomaly which is consistent with the calculations done in flat noncommutative space. Like the flat case, there are ambiguities ...
