Anisotropic Turbulence in Position–Position–Velocity Space: Probing Three-dimensional Magnetic Fields

چکیده
Direct measurements of three-dimensional magnetic fields in the interstellar medium (ISM) are not achievable. However, anisotropic nature magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) turbulence provides a novel way tracing fields. Guided by advanced understanding turbulence's anisotropy Position-Position-Velocity (PPV) space, we extend Structure-Function Analysis (SFA) to measure both field orientation and Alfven Mach number $M_A$, which information on strength. Following theoretical framework developed Kandel et al. (2016), find that given velocity channel is affected inclination angle between 3D direction line-of-sight as well media magnetization. We analyze synthetic PPV cubes generated incompressible compressible MHD simulations. confirm channel's intensity fluctuations measured various position angles reveal plane-of-the-sky orientation. show varying width, anisotropies space can be used simultaneously estimate strength total

Three-dimensional calculations of the magnetic fields in a finite superconducting hollow cylinder in an applied axial magnetic field
In this study, a set of self-consistent coupled-integral equations for the local magnetic flux and current distributions in a finite superconducting hollow cylinder under an axial magnetic field has been directly derived by using the Biot-Savart law within the framework of the critical-state model. The equations were first solved numerically in the three-dimensional space before obtaining the h...
متن کاملExperimental study and numerical simulation of three dimensional two phase impinging jet flow using anisotropic turbulence model
Hydrodynamic of a turbulent impinging jet on a flat plate has been studied experimentally and numerically. Experiments were conducted for the Reynolds number range of 72000 to 102000 and a fixed jet-to-plate dimensionless distance of H/d=3.5. Based on the experimental setup, a multi-phase numerical model was simulated to predict flow properties of impinging jets using two turbulent models. Mesh...
متن کاملThree Dimensional Analysis of Magnetic Fields
Increasingly complex electromagnetic devices require more flexible modelling, and fast and accurate computation of performance parameters. Although two-dimensional analysis provides good approximations, often the physics of the problem requires three-dimensional analysis. Using the Boundary Element Method (BEM) for three-dimensional analysis, now provides unprecedented design opportunities to e...
متن کاملCharged-Particle Transport in anisotropic magnetic Turbulence
Turbulence with an associated turbulent magnetic field is common in astrophysical environments. The determination of the transport of charged particles both parallel and perpendicular to the mean magnetic field is of considerable interest. Quasi-linear analysis or direct numerical simulation can be used to find the effects of the turbulent magnetic field on the transport of charged particles. A...
متن کاملProbing magnetic turbulence by synchrotron polarimetry: statistics and structure of magnetic fields from Stokes correlators
We describe a novel technique for probing the statistical properties of cosmic magnetic fields based on radio polarimetry data. Second-order magnetic field statistics like the power spectrum cannot always distinguish between magnetic fields with essentially different spatial structure. Synchrotron polarimetry naturally allows certain 4th-order magnetic field statistics to be inferred from obser...
