Jet Tomography Studies in AuAu Collisions at RHIC Energies
Recent RHIC results on pion production in AuAu collision at √ s = 130 and 200 AGeV display a strong suppression effect at high pT . This suppression can be connected to final state effects, namely jet energy loss induced by the produced dense colored matter. Applying our pQCD-based parton model we perform a quantitative analysis of the measured suppression pattern and determine the opacity of t...

We present preliminary results from a two-pion intensity interferometry analysis from Au+Au collisions at √ s NN =200 GeV measured in the STAR detector at RHIC. The dependence of the apparent pion source on multiplicity and transverse momentum are discussed and compared with preliminary results from d+Au and p+p collisions at the same beam energy.

Abstract. Thermal photons can provide information on the temperature of the new state of matter created at RHIC. In the pT region of 1–3 GeV/c thermal photons are expected to be the dominant direct photon source. Therefore, a possible excess compared to a pure decay photon signal due to a thermal photon contribution should be seen in the double ratio (γ/γ(π))Measured/(γ/γ(π ))Simulated, if suff...
