چکیده
We have measured the angular dependence of ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) spectra for Fibonacci-distorted, Kagome artificial spin ice (ASI). The number strong modes in FMR depend on orientation applied DC magnetic field. In addition, discontinuities observed field-frequency dispersion curves also field orientation, and signal a multi-step magnetization reversal, which is caused by reduced energy degeneracy Fibonacci-distorted vertices. results suggest severity Fibonacci distortion constitute control variables reversal future magnonic devices switching systems.

Magnetic Reversal of Artificial Kagome Ice
Title of dissertation: MAGNETIC REVERSAL OF ARTIFICIAL KAGOME ICE Stephen Allen Daunheimer Doctor of Philosophy, 2013 Advised by: Professor John Cumings Depart. of Materials Science & Engineering Geometric frustration is a phenomenon where a crystalline material cannot satisfy all of its competing interactions, which can drastically change the behavior of a material. When water freezes into sol...
متن کاملFragmentation of magnetism in artificial kagome dipolar spin ice
Geometrical frustration in magnetic materials often gives rise to exotic, low-temperature states of matter, such as the ones observed in spin ices. Here we report the imaging of the magnetic states of a thermally active artificial magnetic ice that reveal the fingerprints of a spin fragmentation process. This fragmentation corresponds to a splitting of the magnetic degree of freedom into two ch...
متن کاملDirect observation of the ice rule in an artificial kagome spin ice
Recently, significant interest has emerged in fabricated systems that mimic the behavior of geometrically frustrated materials. We present the full realization of such an artificial spin ice system on a two-dimensional kagome lattice and we demonstrate rigid adherence to the local ice rule by directly counting individual pseudospins. The resulting spin configurations show not only local ice rul...
متن کاملReducing disorder in artificial kagome ice.
Artificial spin ice has become a valuable tool for understanding magnetic interactions on a microscopic level. The strength in the approach lies in the ability of a synthetic array of nanoscale magnets to mimic crystalline materials, composed of atomic magnetic moments. Unfortunately, these nanoscale magnets, patterned from metal alloys, can show substantial variation in relevant quantities suc...
