Angstrom-Resolved Interfacial Structure in Buried Organic-Inorganic Junctions

چکیده
Charge transport processes at interfaces which are governed by complex interfacial electronic structure play a crucial role in catalytic reactions, energy storage, photovoltaics, and many biological processes. Here, the first soft X-ray second harmonic generation (SXR-SHG) spectrum of buried interface (boron/Parylene-N) is reported. SXR-SHG shows distinct spectral features that not observed absorption spectra, demonstrating its extraordinary sensitivity. Comparison to calculations indicates boron-organic separation distance 1.9 {\AA}, wherein changes as small 0.1 {\AA} result easily detectable shifts (ca. 100s meV). As inherently ultrafast sensitive individual atomic layers, it creates possibility study variety processes, e.g. catalysis, with time resolution bond specificity.

Interfacial Properties in Cu-phthalocyanine-based Hybrid Inorganic/Organic Multilayers
Interfacial properties of 5 nm MgO(001)/7 nm Fe(001)/1.8 nm MgO(001)/t nm Cu-phthalocyanine (CuPc) hybrid multilayers with t = 0, 1, 7, and 10 were investigated by using x-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS). Rather sharp interfacial properties were observed in the CuPc films grown on an epitaxial MgO/Fe/MgO(001) trilayer than a MgO/Fe(001) bilayer. This work suggests a new way to improve devi...

Adhesion is important in many industrial applications including those in the microelectronics industry. Flip-chip assemblies commonly utilize epoxy underfills to promote reliability and the buried interfacial structure of underfills is crucial to device lifetime. Poor adhesion at this interface can cause premature device failure. One method to increase adhesion strength is to plasma treat the s...

متن کاملObservation of local-interfacial optical phonons at buried interfaces using time-resolved second-harmonic generation
We have used an all-optical technique to observe optical phonons localized at a buried interface. The technique is based on coherent excitation of the interfacial vibrational mode by femtosecond laser irradiation and detection of the free-induction decay of the coherent oscillation by time-resolved second-harmonic generation. For native oxide-covered GaAs ~100!, we observe a single-optical phon...
