Quantum correlations in optical angle-orbital angular momentum variables.

Entanglement of the properties of two separated particles constitutes a fundamental signature of quantum mechanics and is a key resource for quantum information science. We demonstrate strong Einstein, Podolsky, and Rosen correlations between the angular position and orbital angular momentum of two photons created by the nonlinear optical process of spontaneous parametric down-conversion. The d...

A KAM theorem without action-angle variables for elliptic lower dimensional tori

We study elliptic lower dimensional invariant tori of Hamiltonian systems via parameterizations. The method is based in solving iteratively the functional equations that stand for invariance and reducibility. In contrast with classical methods, we do not assume that the system is close to integrable nor that is written in action-angle variables. We only require an approximation of an invariant ...

High Order Phase-fitted Discrete Lagrangian Integrators for Orbital Problems

In this work, the benefits of the phase fitting technique are embedded in high order discrete Lagrangian integrators. The proposed methodology creates integrators with zero phase lag in a test Lagrangian in a similar way used in phase fitted numerical methods for ordinary differential equations. Moreover, an efficient method for frequency evaluation is proposed based on the eccentricities of th...

Integrability and Action-Angle Variables

We prove that the dynamical system charaterized by the Hamiltonian H = λN ∑N j pj+μ ∑N j,k (pjpk) 1 2{cos[ν(qj−qk)]} proposed and studied by Calogero [1,2] is equivalent to a system of non-interacting harmonic oscillators. We find the explicit form of the conserved currents which are in involution. We also find the action-angle variables and solve the initial value problem in simple form. 2

High-order closed Newton-Cotes trigonometrically-fitted formulae for long-time integration of orbital problems

The connection between closed Newton-Cotes, trigonometrically-fitted differential methods and symplectic integrators is investigated in this paper. It is known from the literature that several one step symplectic integrators have been obtained based on symplectic geometry. However, the investigation of multistep symplectic integrators is very poor. Zhu et al. (1996) presented the well known ope...
