Anorexia in goldfish Carassius auratus infected with Trypanosoma danilewskyi
Trypanosoma danilewskyi Laveran & Mesnil, 1904 caused anorexia in experimentally infected goldfish Carassius auratus. This was most evident when the parasiternias were high. Some anorexic fish died of high parasitemias but those that s u ~ v e d the crisis returned to normal feeding.
متن کاملLatent inhibition experiments with goldfish (Carassius auratus).
Evidence of latent inhibition was sought in a series of experiments with goldfish. In Experiment 1, goldfish were given nonreinforced preexposure to a color that subsequently predicted shock in an activity conditioning situation; their performance did not differ from that of control animals preexposed to a markedly different color. In Experiment 2, a group of goldfish given nonreinforced preexp...

متن کاملIsolation of Shewanella putrefaciens from Goldfish (Carassius auratus auratus)
In the present study, the etiological agent that caused mortality in goldfish at an aquarium company located in Bursa in northwestern Turkey was identified. Diseased fish were lethargic, displaying a loss of appetite, ascites, and exophthalmia. Internal examination revealed that the kidney was surrounded by exudate and that the spleen and liver were pale. Microbiological examination showed that...
متن کاملBiochemical and behavioral effects of carbofuran in goldfish (Carassius auratus).
The effects of concentration (5, 50, and 500 microg/L) and duration (24, 48 h) of exposure to carbofuran, a carbamate insecticide, were assessed on brain catecholamine (norepinephrine [NE] and dopamine), plasma glucose, and hepatic glycogen contents and behavioral activities of goldfish (Carassius auratus). After 24 h of exposure to 50 and 500 microg/L, the level of NE was increased in the olfa...
