Ancient Aeolian Reservoirs of the East Siberia Craton

چکیده

Fine-grained strata deposited on the Eastern Siberian craton are predominantly considered to mainly consist of Neoproterozoic sandstones. Clastic rocks near unconformity border Ediacaran and Riphean represented by sandstone siltstone layers with thicknesses several tens meters, belonging Nepa, Tira, Byuk horizons in Nepa–Botuoba region. These sandstones have features characteristic aeolianites formed under action high wind velocity period. Sandstone samples Riphean–Ediacaran boundary were collected from five deep wells characterized for granulometry mineral composition using optical microscopy, XRD, SEM, ICP-MS techniques. a proportion quartz (60–98%) minor amounts feldspars, carbonate, sulfate cements. Thin sections sandy feature bimodal distributions grains throughout many sections, large well-rounded being orders magnitude greater than silt matrix grains. The monomineralic an overgrowth can be petroleum reservoirs good porosity permeability, but most studied intervals, content anhydrite dolomite interstitial cement significantly reduces both. is low, while permeability very which may associated significant amount clay material. Aeolianites normally contain (due its stability resistance weathering) possess presence heavy minerals.

Ancient DNA Reveals Prehistoric Gene-Flow from Siberia in the Complex Human Population History of North East Europe

North East Europe harbors a high diversity of cultures and languages, suggesting a complex genetic history. Archaeological, anthropological, and genetic research has revealed a series of influences from Western and Eastern Eurasia in the past. While genetic data from modern-day populations is commonly used to make inferences about their origins and past migrations, ancient DNA provides a powerf...

East Siberia had a lower latitude in the Pleistocene

In Arctic East Siberia many remains of mammoths have been found. In this region there is not sufficient sunlight over the year to allow for the growth of the plants on which these animals feed. Consequently the latitude of these regions must have been lower before the end of the Pleistocene than at present. It is a challenge to reconstruct this geographic shift of the poles in a manner compatib...

Arctic East Siberia had a lower latitude in the Pleistocene.

Remains of mammoths in Arctic East Siberia, where there is not sufficient sunlight over the year for the growth of the plants on which these animals feed, indicate that the latitude of this region was lower before the end of the Pleistocene than now. Reconstructing this geographic pole shift, we introduce a massive object, which moved in an extremely eccentric orbit and was hot from tidal work ...

Wood Use in the Ancient Near East

Wood. Forests were exploited from the very beginnings of Near Eastern civilization. Enough hints exist from such Aceramic Neolithic sites as Jericho in Israel and Çayönü, Asikli Höyük, Nevali Çori, and Hallan Çemi in Turkey to indicate that extensive forest use has a history in this region of at least ten thousand years. These sites provide ample burned evidence for architectural timbers used a...
