Anaplastic large cell lymphoma of breast masquerading suppurative mastitis on cytology

Breast is an uncommon site of extra nodal lymphoma accounting for 2.2% all lymphomas. B cell lymphomas are more common than T types. The most subtype Diffuse Large Cell Lymphoma. very challenging to diagnose as it has nonspecific clinical and radiological features. We report a rare case primary in 20-year-old female. It was misdiagnosed abscess on ultrasound suppurative mastitis fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC). However, excisional biopsy suggestive immunohistochemistry confirmed ALK positive, anaplastic large lymphoma. Even though FNAC part the diagnostic triad breast lesions, potential pitfalls cannot be overlooked must correlated with biopsy.
