چکیده

Anaplasma phagocytophilum (A. phagocytophilum) is the aetiological agent of tick-borne fever in cattle and sheep, granulocytic anaplasmosis human dogs. Livestock, companion animal infections with A. have been reported globally. Across England Wales, two isolates (called ecotypes) ticks. This study examined present livestock wildlife Great Britain (GB), a particular focus on cattle. Clinical submissions (EDTA blood) from (n = 21) sheep 3) were received by APHA for disease testing animals confirmed to be infected using PCR targeting Msp2 gene. Further roe deer 2), red 2) Ixodes ricinus ticks 22) also shown phagocytophilum. Subsequent analysis nested groEL gene sequencing presence ecotype I cattle, ricinus, II I. removed carcasses. Despite ecotypes, widely distributed only was detected this study.

Transformation of Anaplasma phagocytophilum

BACKGROUND Tick-borne pathogens cause emerging zoonoses, and include fastidious organisms such as Anaplasma phagocytophilum. Because of their obligate intracellular nature, methods for mutagenesis and transformation have not been available. RESULTS To facilitate genetic manipulation, we transformed A. phagocytophilum (Ap) to express a green fluorescent protein (GFP) with the Himar1 transposas...

On Anaplasma phagocytophilum in Horses

Equine Granulocytic Anaplasmosis (EGA) is an acute tick-borne infection caused by Anaplasma phagocytophilum. The bacterium can infect various animal species and humans. Persistence of infection is documented in ruminants and is shown experimentally in dogs, but it is unknown whether it occurs in horses or if EGA induces longer-term clinical changes in horses. This thesis includes results and an...

Anaplasma phagocytophilum from Rodents and Sheep, China

To characterize the strains of Anaplasma phagocytophilum in wild and domestic animals in China, we isolated the organism from rodents and sheep in northeastern China. We isolated 3 strains (2 from rodents and 1 from sick sheep) through propagation in BALB/c mice and then cell culture in HL60 cells. The 3 isolates were identified by Wright-Giemsa staining, immunofluorescence, and electronic micr...
