Analyzing The Effects of Livestock Policies on Farm-level Efficiency in Turkey; Thrace Region Case

The effect of agricultural subsidies on the efficiency farms is one main issues discussed today. Dairy farming benefits from various types and take a lion share support budget. In this context, study has four important aims. Firstly, to analyze technical dairy farms, secondly, investigate effects policy tools efficiency, thirdly determine factors affecting efficiencies finally bring proposals. This was carried out in Thrace Region Turkey interviewed with 140 farmers. three-stage method applied study. policies were determined by using Data Envelopment Analysis. Tobit Analysis used relationship between farmer or farms-oriented characteristics. results show that average scores are 0.700 under constant return scale, 0.795 variable scale 0.886 for efficiency. increases 1.13%-2.43% thanks 1.35% higher. It noteworthy affect positively but provide small improvement, also vary across farm-scale groups. According Analysis, education level farmers, livestock total income, family size whether tend give up significantly recommended governments should increase work increasing improve technology larger decreasing scale.
