Analytical solutions of the simplified spherical harmonics equations.
We derived analytical solutions of the simplified spherical harmonics equations, an approximation of the radiative transfer equation, for infinitely extended scattering media. The derived equations are simple (sum of exponential functions) and quickly evaluated. We compared the solutions with Monte Carlo simulations in the steady-state and time domains and found much better agreement compared t...
متن کاملShortwave ultraviolet radiation in operating rooms.
We have evaluated the effect of shortwave ultraviolet radiation on bacterial levels in an operating theatre, both in experimental conditions and during 20 hip operations. When compared with the use of sham blue light, there was a significant reduction in the number of bacteria. The reduced level was comparable with that suggested for ultraclean air ventilation systems.
متن کاملSimplified Solar Tracking Prototype
Solar energy is rapidly advancing as an important means of renewable energy resource. More energy is produced by tracking the solar panel to remain aligned to the sun at a right angle to the rays of light. This paper describes in detail the design and construction of a prototype for solar tracking system with two degrees of freedom, which detects the sunlight using photocells. The control circu...
متن کاملApplication of Statistics to Evaluate Iranian Analytical Laboratories Proficiency: Case of Aflatoxins in Pistachio
The aim of this study was to evaluate the utility of a proficiency testing program among limited number of local laboratories as an alternative to the IUPAC/CITAC guide on proficiency testing with a limited number of participants, specially where international schemes are not accessible. As a sample scheme we planned to determine aflatoxins (B1, G1, B2, G2, total) in Iranian pistachio matrix. A...
متن کامل[Indices of body resistance to overheating in the dynamics of acute radiation lesion].
Three hours after irradiation in a dose of 800 R rats proved to be less resistant to following overheating (45 degrees C) than control animals. An increase of resistance to acute overheating was revealed at the end of 3 days after the irradiation. At the height of the radiation disease (the end of the 5th day) the period of occurrence of heat stroke and the duration of rat survival failed to di...
