Analytical asymptotics for hard diffraction

چکیده
We show that the cross section for diffractive dissociation of a small onium off large nucleus at total rapidity $Y$ and requiring minimum gap $Y_{\text{gap}}$ can be identified, in well-defined parametric limit, with simple classical observable on stochastic process representing evolution state onium, as its increases, form color dipole branchings: It formally coincides twice probability an even number these dipoles effectively participate scattering, when viewed frame which is evolved to $Y-Y_{\text{gap}}$. Consequently, finding asymptotic solutions Kovchegov-Levin equation, rules $Y$-dependence section, boils down solving probabilistic problem. Such formulation authorizes derivation parameter-free analytical expression distribution. Interestingly enough, events many interact simultaneously play important role, since distribution $k$ participating interaction turns out proportional $1/[k(k-1)]$.

Let Λ be the limiting smallest eigenvalue in the general (β, a)-Laguerre ensemble of random matrix theory. That is, Λ is the n ↑ ∞ distributional limit of the (scaled) minimal point drawn from the density proportional to ∏ 1≤i 0, a > −1; for β = 1, 2, 4 and integer a, this object governs the singular values of certain rank n Ga...

We present a CDF measurement of diffractive dijet production in p̄p collisions at 1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider using data from an integrated luminosity of ≈ 310 pb collected by triggering on a high transverse momentum jet in coincidence with a recoil antiproton detected in a roman pot spectrometer. We report final results for 4-momentum transfer squared t > −4 GeV, antiproton-momen...

Diffractive processes contribute a significant fraction to the total inelastic proton-proton cross sections at high energies. These reactions can be described in terms of the exchange of a pomeron, a hypothetical object with the quantum numbers of the vacuum. The experimental signatures of diffractive events are the presence of non-exponentially suppressed large rapidity gaps and/or presence of...

The idea of diffractive processes with a hard scale involved, to resolve the underlying parton dynamics , was published 1985 and experimentally verified 1988. Today hard diffraction is an active research field with high-quality data and new theoretical models. The trend from Regge-based pomeron models to QCD-based parton level models has given insights on QCD dynamics involving perturbative glu...
