Analysis on Code Switching Manifested by Filipino High School Teachers

The Philippines as an archipelago is a multilingual community, thus, analyzing discourses are advantageous to its scholars. Hence, the researchers extracted respondents’ in their online classes and investigated types patterns of code switching occurences among 9 teachers through qualitative quantitative analyses. They adapted typology by Poplack (1980) Myers-Scotton (1989). classified into tag, intersentential, intrasentential but later, added intraword. In analysis patterns, considered Muysken’s (2000) namely insertion, alternation congruent lexicalization. However, due limitations these only insertion utilized, modified it fit context this study. These Ilokolish, Taglish Ilocotaglish – all forms with alternate use languages.
 Intrasentential has highest number occurrence (471) utterances instructors classroom followed intersentential (122), tag (45) intraword (24). As (346) occurs most frequently mixed Ilocolish (186) (57). It therefore concluded that codes different happen Philippine high school not students even teachers. Using found be beneficial both students. Thus, paper could help regardless subject area determine proper switching. Their understanding students’ guide them designing lessons toward more effective interaction which lead quality education.
