Analysis of Wind Turbine Aging through Operation Data Calibrated by LiDAR Measurement

This study analyzed the performance decline of wind turbine with age using SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) data and short-term in situ LiDAR (Light Detection Ranging) measurements taken at Shinan farm located on coast Bigeumdo Island southwestern sea South Korea. Existing methods have generally attempted to estimate aging through long-term trend analysis a normalized capacity factor which speed variability is calibrated. However, this proposes new method for farms whose total operation period short (less than decade). That is, power output deficit between predicted actual generation was order aging, wherein theoretically level calculated by substituting free stream projecting into its curve. To calibrate distorted measurement nacelle anemometer caused wake effect resulting from rotation wind-turbine blades shape nacelle, measured remote sensing as reference data; transfer function, converts speed, derived. A four-year showed that rate turbines estimated be −0.52%p/year.
