چکیده
The 3-component velocity distribution of two lean-burn gas turbine fuel injectors are measured at a planar location near and parallel to the injector outlet. nominally same design, but one features blocked central passages study effects presence multi-streams reveal single stream characteristics embedded within multi-stream configuration. Stereoscopic particle image velocimetry is used in an isothermal, non-reacting water analogue flow facility engine relevant Reynolds number. data analysed using proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) work introduces concept Zonal POD. This splitting field into zones prior calculation POD modes better identify prominent structures associated with each zone. Because sorted by area averaged energy contribution, zoning interest may change individual will almost certainly their order for anything other than trivial fields. Analysis ensemble average fluctuation profiles reveals radial shift outboard mains pilot as well general increase RMS across intermediate region between flows. temporal coefficients frequency domain low-frequency peak evident region, which be affected flow. Furthermore, application ZPOD technique results closer representation given number modes. shows behaviour unsteady that significant proportion fluctuating energy, RMS, caused this characteristic.

Modeling of transitional channel flow using balanced proper orthogonal decomposition
We study reduced-order models of three-dimensional perturbations in linearized channel flow using balanced proper orthogonal decomposition BPOD . The models are obtained from three-dimensional simulations in physical space as opposed to the traditional single-wavenumber approach, and are therefore better able to capture the effects of localized disturbances or localized actuators. In order to a...

متن کاملTrust-region Proper Orthogonal Decomposition for Flow Control
The proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) is a model reduction technique for the simulation of physical processes governed by partial differential equations, e.g. fluid flows. It can also be used to develop reduced order control models. Fundamental is the computation of POD basis functions that represent the influence of the control action on the system in order to get a suitable control model....
متن کاملArtificial viscosity proper orthogonal decomposition
We introduce improved reduced-order models for turbulent flows. These models are inspired from successful methodologies used in large eddy simulation, such as artificial viscosity, applied to standardmodels created by proper orthogonal decomposition of flows coupled with Galerkin projection. As a first step in the analysis and testing of our new methodology, we use the Burgers equation with a s...
متن کاملModeling and Control of Physical Processes using Proper Orthogonal Decomposition
Proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) technique (or the Karhunan Lo eve procedure) has been used to obtain low dimensional dynamical models of many applications in engineering and science. In principle, the idea is to start with an ensemble of data, called snapshots, collected from an experiment or a numerical procedure of a physical system. The POD technique is then used to produce a set of ba...
