Analysis of English as a Lingua Franca features and its feasibility in the 2022 national English curriculum

Observing the shift to English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) in national curriculum for education, this study analyzes ELF-related features 2022 curriculum’s learning aims and evaluates their feasibility using text mining. The findings indicate that reflects ELF, example, by viewing medium of communication among diverse speakers whose first language is not English. emphasis on cultivating learners’ awareness appreciation different cultures also aligns with ELF literature, since contexts are limited interactions native speakers. However, reveal lacks definitions key terms, such “intelligibility,” “fluency,” “accuracy.” It fails provide pedagogical implications its ELF-informed suggestions, introducing various variants teaching effective communication. There need address Korean learner factors, they known significant contributors mutual intelligibility. Furthermore, absence information assessment could significantly impact classroom pedagogy calls explicit guidelines.
