چکیده

A lot of residual biomass has energy value and can be used for further applications through suitable treatments, such as pelletization. This treatment improve properties, mainly density, but also lead to problems due their low ash melting temperatures, high content, the formation harmful compounds during combustion. article deals with potential pellets produced from spruce sawdust, bark, pine cones in different proportions. The impact cone bark contents on pellet properties was observed. were measured, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, moisture, volatile, fixed ash, well calorific values temperatures. Based results, it concluded that addition sawdust affected nitrogen Despite this, all met standard EN ISO 17225-2 content lower at least B quality. However, only three samples five this A2 quality behavior. Therefore, they present an alternative fuel interesting potential.

Magnetic studies of ferrofluid-modified spruce sawdust

Spruce sawdust (lignocellulose material) was magnetically modified after contact with a water-based magnetic fluid containing maghemite nanoparticles. This procedure allows one to use the prepared material as a new magnetic affinity adsorbent in magnetic separation techniques. The magnetic sawdust was investigated by means of electron spin resonance spectroscopy and conventional magnetic method...

CO2 adsorbent pellets produced from pine sawdust: effect of coal tar pitch addition

The main drawbacks of developing carbon adsorbents from pine sawdust, an abundant biomass feedstock, are the low carbon yield of the process and the poor mechanical properties of the resulting carbons. In an attempt to overcome these limitations, the effect of the addition of coal tar pitch was assessed. Adsorbent pellets were produced from pine sawdust and coal tar pitch by activation with CO2...

Ophiostoma spp. associated with pine- and spruce-infesting bark beetles in Finland and Russia

The timber and pulp industries of Finland rely heavily on importations from Russia as source of raw timber. These imports raise the risk of accidentally importing forest pests and pathogens, especially bark beetles and their associated fungi, into Finland. Although ophiostomatoid fungi have previously been reported from Finland and Russia, the risks of accidentally moving these fungi has prompt...

Binderless Panels Made with Black Spruce Bark

The bark of black spruce was thermo-mechanically refined and used to manufacture binderless bark-based fiberboard with various pressing temperatures, times, and panel structures in order to utilize an abundant bark resource for a better value-added application. The test results indicated that it is technically feasible to manufacture binderless fiberboard with refined black spruce bark through ...

A common fungal associate of the spruce bark beetle metabolizes the stilbene defenses of Norway spruce.

Norway spruce (Picea abies) forests suffer periodic fatal attacks by the bark beetle Ips typographus and its fungal associate, Ceratocystis polonica. Norway spruce protects itself against fungal and bark beetle invasion by the production of terpenoid resins, but it is unclear whether resins or other defenses are effective against the fungus. We investigated stilbenes, a group of phenolic compou...
