An overview of municipal solid waste management in Jaipur city, India - Current status, challenges and recommendations

In developing countries, urbanization and rapid population growth has resulted in a substantial increase generation of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW). Safe collection, transportation treatment MSW are among the major issues for Indian cities. Poor management practices have negative impact on public health, environment climate change. India currently only treats 21% while remainder disposed unsanitary landfill sites with no recycling technologies. This paper reviews existing practices, challenges provides recommendations improving city Jaipur Rajasthan, India. Despite being state capital as well top tourist destination northern part India, there is detailed study which waste strategies this along identifying key challenges.
