چکیده

Objectives: In this present study the hepatoprotective effect of an optimized herbal formula (HF) was appraised against paracetamol induced liver damage in rats. Methods: In vitro antioxidant activity HF evaluated by ABTS radical scavenging assay. The (100, 200 and 400 mg/kg b.w) assessed Serum enzymatic levels serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase (AST), pyruvate (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) Gamma-glutamyltransferase (γ-GT) were along with estimation catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), Glutathione (GSH) TBARS tissues. Lipid profile also examined. Furthermore, histopathological examination sections performed to approve advocate induction hepatotoxicity as well effectiveness. Results: showed robust in vitro antioxidant activities terms scavenging. reinstated significantly raised AST, ALT, ALP γ-GT a dose dependent manner. lipid found be stabilized. remarks did further establish biochemical indications hepatoprotection. Elevated level reduced tissues reinforce actions. Conclusion: outcomes evidently unveil efficacy justify;">Key words: Antioxidant, Hepatoprotective, Herbal formula, Paracetamol, Silymarin.

Acetaminophen-induced hepatotoxicity.

The analgesic acetaminophen causes a potentially fatal, hepatic centrilobular necrosis when taken in overdose. The initial phases of toxicity were described in Dr. Gillette's laboratory in the 1970s. These findings indicated that acetaminophen was metabolically activated by cytochrome P450 enzymes to a reactive metabolite that depleted glutathione (GSH) and covalently bound to protein. It was s...

Hepatotoxicity induced by herbal and dietary supplements.

Herbals and dietary supplements (HDS) can cause hepatotoxicity. Regulation of HDS varies across the globe. In the United States, it is defined by a law that is now two decades old. More recent regulatory approaches in Europe still do not require testing for premarket safety. The true incidence of hepatotoxicity from HDS is unknown. The presentation is most often with a hepatocellular enzyme pat...

Acetaminophen-Induced Hepatotoxicity: a Comprehensive Update

Hepatic injury and subsequent hepatic failure due to both intentional and non-intentional overdose of acetaminophen (APAP) has affected patients for decades, and involves the cornerstone metabolic pathways which take place in the microsomes within hepatocytes. APAP hepatotoxicity remains a global issue; in the United States, in particular, it accounts for more than 50% of overdose-related acute...
