چکیده

This article proposes a novel device designated as an intelligent electronic fuse (iFuse) intended to be connected in series with any current-bidirectional voltage-unidirectional active switch present power converter. The iFuse duty is selectively isolate its series-associated from the rest of converter circuit immediately after detecting that this has failed short circuit. Nonetheless, it maintains reverse (free-wheeling) current path originally offered by switch. failure detection typically performed when causes shoot-through event. Therefore, able block large currents. allows increasing power-converter fault tolerance and reliability regard short-circuit failures (SCFs), converters featuring switches parallel, redundant legs, multilevel neutral-point-clamped topologies. model analysis two-level leg two parallel per position reveals can increased up four times implemented each feasibility good performance are verified through experimental tests, proving detect associated-switch 6 $\mu \text{s}$ , while stopping currents 1 kA without incurring harmful di / dt values.

Electronic structure modulation for low-power switching

We report the transport characteristics of a novel transistor based on the electronic structure modulation of the channel. The gate voltage-controlled current modulation arises from the bandwidth manipulation of a midgap or a near-midgap state. We show that the transistor exhibits a gain and overcomes the 2.3 kBT/decade thermal limit in the inverse subthreshold slope where kB is the Boltzmann c...

Flexible Power Electronic Transformer for Power Flow Control Applications

This paper proposes a Flexible Power Electronic Transformer (FPET) for the application in the micro-grids. The low frequency transformer is usually used at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC) to connect the low voltage grid and utility network to each other. The conventional 50Hz transformer results in enhanced low voltage-grid power management system during grid-connected operation. In this pap...

Multi-level Converter with Optimal Number of Power Electronic Devices

In this paper, a new topology for cascaded multilevel converter based on sub multilevel converter units and full-bridge converters is proposed. The proposed topology significantly reduces the number of dc voltage sources, switches, IGBTs, and power diodes as the number of output voltage levels increases. Also, an algorithm to determine dc voltage sources magnitudes is proposed. To synthesize ma...
