Modern civilization is characterised by a high need for electrical energy. The importance of electricity in daily life has grown to the point that it desirable safeguard power system from damage during fault situations and ensure maximum supply continuity, which necessitates use switchgear. Testing any equipment indicates extent able comply with customer's requirements. In this paper temperature rise test on medium voltage switchgear assembly considered. research, sub-clause 6.5.2 IEC standard 62271-1 followed conduct assembly. conducted two modes, first following existing method testing second an innovative testing. 12 kV, 50 kA, 3150 A single busbar readings are measured, analysed compared between methods. It concluded recorded more accurate method, as increase seen all thermocouple locations heat dissipation ambient reduced.
