An improved Picard iteration scheme for simulating unsaturated flow in porous media

چکیده
The Richards equation is widely used in the simulation of unsaturated flow and related fields. In numerical solution process, finite volume method can be to carry out discretization, Picard for iterative solution. However, order obtain a more reliable solution, space step size conventional uniform grid often small. Especially under some unfavorable conditions, such as infiltration into dry soil layered with very different hydraulic conductivity, this will time-consuming even slow converge. Thus, combined non-uniform form Chebyshev, an improved based on two-grid correction scheme (NTG-PI) proposed model 1D porous media. Through three examples was verified. results show that, compared method, NTG-PI higher accuracy smaller number nodes, also has faster convergence rate. This provide certain reference flow.

Selection of Intermodal Conductivity Averaging Scheme for Unsaturated Flow in Homogeneous Media
The nonlinear solvers in numerical solution of water flow in variably saturated soils are prone to convergence difficulties. Many aspects can give rise to such difficulties, like very dry initial conditions, a steep pressure gradient and great variation of hydraulic conductivity occur across the wetting front during the infiltration of water. So, the averaging method applied to compute hydraul...
متن کاملNumerical Model for Saturated-Unsaturated Flow in Deformable Porous Media
An integrated finite difference algorithm is presented for numerically solving the governing equation of saturated-unsaturated flow in deformable porous media. In recognition that stability of the explicit equation is a local phenomenon a mixed explicit-implicit procedure is used for marching in the time domain. In this scheme the explicit changes in potential are first computed for all element...
متن کاملA nonconforming scheme for non-Fickian flow in porous media
In this paper, we construct a semi-discrete scheme and a fully discrete scheme using the Wilson nonconforming element for the parabolic integro-differential equation arising in modeling the non-Fickian flow in porous media by the interior penalty method. Without using the conventional elliptic projection, which was an indispensable tool in the convergence analysis of finite element methods in p...
متن کاملAn analytical solution for transient radial flow through unsaturated fractured porous media
[1] This paper presents analytical solutions for one-dimensional radial transient flow through a horizontal, unsaturated fractured rock formation. In these solutions, unsaturated flow through fractured media is described by a linearized Richards’ equation, while fracture-matrix interaction is handled using the dual-continuum concept. Although linearizing Richards’ equation requires a specially ...

We consider a charged porous material that is saturated by two fluid phases that are immiscible and continuous on the scale of a representative elementary volume. The wetting phase for the grains is water and the nonwetting phase is assumed to be an electrically insulating viscous fluid. We use a volume-averaging approach to derive the linear constitutive equations for the electrical current de...
