چکیده

An improved Eulerian method with a novel morphologic model is developed based on the direct numerical simulation (DNS) approach to study local scour. A movable immersed boundary proposed prescribe geometry of riverbed. Two techniques, namely Simultaneous Bed Adjustment Method (SBAM) and (Segment Plane Method) SPM, are complex time changing The SBAM technique considers sand sliding in SPM an algorithm calculating geometrical parameter wind tunnel experiment obeying Reynolds similarity measuring pressure fixed scour hole carried out compare results. results show that performs well capturing qualitatively agrees experimental how develops. also DNS can capture formation details at beginning find stress u'v’ plays important role erosion leading edge cylinder. Therefore, newly valuable tool for studies implementation MPI.

Numerical Simulation of Skewed Slot Effect on Local Scour Reduction

Local scouring around bridge piers is a natural phenomenon caused by the erosive process of flowing stream on alluvial beds. The 3D flow field around bridge piers interacting with the bed materials increases complexity of local scour process. The local scour depth develops in accelerated flows and if it is not predicted correctly, the bottom level of local scour hole will exceed the original le...

Direct Numerical Simulation of the Wake Flow Behind a Cylinder Using Random Vortex Method in Medium to High Reynolds Numbers

Direct numerical simulation of turbulent flow behind a cylinder, wake flow, using the random vortex method for an incompressible fluid in two dimensions is presented. In the random vortex method, the primary variable is vorticity of the flow field. After generation on the cylinder wall, it is followed in two fractional time step in a Lagrangian system of coordinates, namely convection and diffu...

Numerical investigation of flow and scour around a vertical circular cylinder.

Flow and scour around a vertical cylinder exposed to current are investigated by using a three-dimensional numerical model based on incompressible Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The model incorporates (i) k-ω turbulence closure, (ii) vortex-shedding processes, (iii) sediment transport (both bed and suspended load), as well as (iv) bed morphology. The influence of vortex shedding and...
