An experimental investigation of flow boiling instability of R245fa in a horizontal tube

Two-phase pressure drop oscillations during flow boiling of pure fluid R245fa in a horizontal microchannel with diameter 0.9 mm were experimentally investigated. Three mass fluxes G = 400, 630, and 1100 kg/m2 s three different heat q 40, 50, 55 kW/m2 tested under the inlet 211.72 kPa subcooling 17 K. Flow instabilities analyzed based on images temporal oscillation results two-phase flux (G), (ΔP), (Pin). Four types high-amplitude/low-frequency are identified, main reasons for which found to be patterns test section upstream compressible volume vapor. The is attributed mixture between expansion vapor subcooled liquid plenum. Effects also discussed through variation trends ΔP vs q/G fast Fourier transform.
