An efficient importance sampling approach for reliability analysis of time-variant structures subject to time-dependent stochastic load

Structural performance is affected by deterioration processes and external loads. Both effects may change over time, posing a challenge for conducting reliability analysis. In such context, this contribution aims at assessing the of structures where some its parameters are modeled as random variables, possibly including processes, which subjected to stochastic load processes. The approach developed within framework importance sampling it based on concept composite limit states, time-dependent problem transformed into series system with multiple functions. Then, an efficient two-step density function proposed, splits time-invariant (random variables) from time-variant ones (stochastic processes). This scheme geared towards particular class problems, structural exhibits linear dependency respect fixed time. allows calculating associated most efficiently. Practical examples illustrate proposed approach.
