چکیده
The present study proposes a new approach to automated screening of Clinically Significant Macular Edema (CSME) and addresses two major challenges associated with such screenings, i.e., exudate segmentation imbalanced datasets. proposed replaces the conventional based feature extraction by combining pre-trained deep neural network meta-heuristic selection. A space over-sampling technique is being used overcome effects skewed datasets accomplished k-NN classifier. role each data-processing step (e.g., class balancing, selection) limiting region interest fovea on classification performance are critically analyzed. Finally, selection implication operating points Receiver Operating Characteristic curve discussed. results this convincingly demonstrate that following these fundamental practices machine learning, basic classifier could effectively accomplish CSME screening.

OCT Classification of Clinically Significant Macular Edema
Diabetic macular edema is the commonest cause of visual loss in patients with non proliferative diabetic retinopathy and a common cause of visual loss in PDR. According to Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy study, early detection and laser treatment of clinically significant macular oedema decreases the risk of moderate visual loss by 50%. Though laser has been the standard of care till recen...
متن کامل[Clinically significant diabetic macular edema: systemic risk factors].
OBJECTIVE We examined the influence of non-ophthalmic parameters as risk factors of clinically significant macular edema (CSME). METHODS The authors reviewed clinical records of all clinically significant macular edema between 1995 and 2005. The association between the presence of CSME and HgbA1c, onset and duration of diabetes, blood pressure, body mass index, lipid status, sex, tobacco smok...
متن کاملMultifocal electroretinogram in clinically significant diabetic macular edema.
OBJECTIVE To explore the multifocal electroretinogram in patients with nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy with clinically-significant macular edema. METHODS Forty-one eyes with clinically significant macular edema were tested. The latencies and amplitudes of average responses of 5 eccentric rings from 0 to 26 degrees relative to the fixation point were compared with normal values obtained ...

purpose : the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of adjuvant treatments on contrast sensitivity in patients with clinically significant macular edema (csme) treated with macular photocoagulation (mpc). methods : forty eight eyes from 30 patients with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (npdr) and csme were included in a prospective randomized clinical trial between august 2008 and ...
متن کاملMacular thickness measurement in clinically significant macular edema before and after meal
PURPOSE To evaluate the macular thickness changes in diabetic macular edema after meal. METHODS In this prospective case series, macular thicknesses of diabetic patients with clinically significant macular edema (CSME) were measured after 7 h of fasting and repeated 2 h after breakfast. RESULTS Thirty six eyes of 20 diabetic patients were evaluated. The mean central subfield thickness (CST)...
