An effective method to mass culture a lobate ctenophore (<i>Bolinopsis mikado</i>)

This paper reports an effective and easy method to culture the ctenophore Bolinopsis mikado. Fifteen adult B. mikado individuals were maintained in a kreisel tank, fertilized eggs, which detected following days, all raised together same tank. From early development stage day 13, cydippid larvae only fed Artemia nauplii. The able easily catch nauplii excreted by mikado; therefore, they considered capable of growing on excrement. Adult removed from tank when reached approximately 5 mm length (day 14). then transferred circular with water spray chamber. Approximately 21 days after stage, had grown lengths 20 bred manner up 5th generation. greatest advantages this are that it is less cumbersome requires feeding observation until attain size enables them pursue live Thus, damage living body due exchange labor involved reduced, thereby allowing stable breeding
