An assessment of the illegal dumping of construction and demolition waste

Addressing the illegal dumping of construction and demolition waste (CDW) is challenging because there are significant costs associated with clean-up actions but, for many local authorities, no data available to describe this reality support decision-making process. This research focused on how study dynamic CDW dumpsites, characterising these occurrences in order understand factors that influence them raise awareness problem results obtained. It involved municipalities a rural region, scant infrastructure treatment, monthly observations aforementioned sites. In total, 136 dumpsites were observed, 65% located public-owned land. For 18 thousand tonnes estimated, which 59% correspond mineral fraction. The cost removing abandoned was estimated at between €84 €99 per tonne, component directly municipal resources around 28% total. During one-year monitoring period, 26 new 156 month recorded. Performance indicators demonstrated some type solution management report less dumping.
