An approach for selecting optimal locations for electric vehicle solar charging stations

Electric vehicles (EVs) are seen as a solution to reduce transport-related greenhouse gas emissions. A major obstacle wider adoption is the insufficient amount of charging stations. Furthermore, supplying stations with renewable energy still in its infancy. The selection optimal locations for important best serve users and maximise possibilities use. Given this background, study developed an approach Solar-supplied Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS) location by combining EVCS solar farm site studies using Geographical Information System (GIS) Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). determined most criteria based on previous expert opinions. 10 according survey results were: availability power, potential, panel installation cost, number EVs, operation management costs, land distance from roads/highways, current EVCSs, industrial capability high population density centres. importance weights these were assigned AHP method. findings expected benefit urban planners, decision-makers, researchers designing solar-supplied EV infrastructure.
