Abstract. Isnansetyo A, Handayani DP, Istiqomah I, Arif Kaneko T. 2021. An antibacterial compound purified from a tropical coastal plant, Diospyros maritima. Biodiversitas 23: 135-142. This study aimed to isolate, purify, and characterize an maritima evaluate its activity. bark was collected Kei Kecil Island, extracted with ethanol, separated hexane chloroform, by column chromatography. The isolated tested for activity paper disk diffusion on the double-layer agar medium. minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) determined microdilution method in 96-well microplate. pure inhibited Staphylococcus aureus Aeromonas hydrophila at MICs of 0.625 5 µg/mL, respectively. molecular weight 188 m/z based GC-MS analysis. 1H-NMR spectrum indicated two protons which appeared as multiplet 7,687.59 ppm, one proton singlet 6.87 ppm doublet 7.26 ppm. 13C-NMR showed eleven carbon signals, eight signals aromatic ring (186.06, 162.38, 151.17, 137.41, 134.49, 133.76, 17.75, 16.51 ppm) 191.91 191.05 spectrometric data that plumbagin (1,4-naphthalenedione-5-hydroxy-2-methyl). finding opens up new perspective D. source lead compounds development substances.

Synergistic TRAIL sensitizers from Barleria alluaudii and Diospyros maritima.

Barleria alluaudii and Diospyros maritima were both investigated as part of an ongoing search for synergistic TRAIL (tumor necrosis factor-α-related apoptosis-inducing ligand) sensitizers. As a result of this study, two naphthoquinone epoxides, 2,3-epoxy-2,3-dihydrolapachol (1) and 2,3-epoxy-2,3-dihydro-8-hydroxylapachol (2), both not previously isolated from natural sources, and the known 2-me...
