An aggregated template methodology: Novel automatic phase‐onset identification by template matching

The precision of P- and S-wave phase picking strongly determines the earthquake locations, but such can be challenging in case emergent signals, large data sets or temporally varying seismic networks. To overcome these challenges, we have developed concept an aggregated template to perform automatic phases. An is defined as a representative event for small area, built by aggregating best signal-to-noise-ratio traces from events with similar waveforms (i.e. multiplet events).
