Altitude shape genetic and phenotypic variations in growth curve parameters of Larix kaempferi

Abstract To study the effects of geoclimatic variables provenances on growth phenotypes and selected plus provenances, over 3000 trees 22-year-old Larix kaempferi were evaluated from trials established in two climate zones for provenance selection to explore influence performance. The material was replicated plantings 84 open pollinated families six distributed mountains central Japan. Provenance variation observed most age groups heritability traits showed large differences. phenotypic maximum value height diameter significantly positive with altitude, mean annual precipitation being important factors. Diameter at breast negative altitude spring rainfall. Ina relatively high altitudes, well adapted a variety climates. Altitude might be driving force genetic variations local adaptation.
