Alternative Recipes for Life Satisfaction: Evidence from Five World Regions

چکیده
In most cross-national research on Life Satisfaction (LS) an implicit assumption appears to be that the correlates of LS are same world over; ‘one size fits all’. Using data from World Values Survey (1999–2014), we question this by assessing effects differing personal values/life priorities in five regions: West, Latin America, Asian-Confucian region, ex-Communist Eastern Europe, and Communist countries China Vietnam. We indicate values - traditional family values, friendship leisure materialistic political prosocial environmental religious – endorsed varying degrees different parts world, vary whether they have positive or negative LS. Productivity costs and years of potential life lost associated with five leading causes of death: Evidence from Iran (2006-2010)
Background: Economic burden due to premature mortalities is significant both on health system and on the society as a whole. This study aimed to determine the productivity costs and years of potential life lost associated with five leading causes of death in Iran from 2006 to 2010. Methods: Data on mortality by sex and age-groups due to five main leading causes of death (m...
متن کاملEconomic Disparities and Life Satisfaction in European Regions
This paper investigates the role of economic variables in predicting regional disparities in reported life satisfaction of European Union (EU) citizens. European subnational units (regions) are defined according to the first-level EU nomenclature of territorial units. We use multilevel modeling to explicitly account for the hierarchical nature of our data, respondents within regions and countri...
متن کاملDark matter and alternative recipes for the missing mass
Within the standard cosmological scenario the Universe is found to be filled by obscure components (dark matter and dark energy) for 95% of its energy budget. In particular, almost all the matter content in the Universe is given by dark matter, which dominates the mass budget and drives the dynamics of galaxies and clusters of galaxies. Unfortunately, dark matter and dark energy have not been d...
متن کاملLife Domain Satisfactions as Predictors of Overall Life Satisfaction Among Workers: Evidence from Chile
This article examines the subjective antecedents of life satisfaction of workers. Adopting a 'bottom-up' perspective, we assessed the unique influence that satisfaction with multiple life domains have on evaluative judgments of overall life satisfaction. Based on a nationwide sample of 530 Chilean workers, we simultaneously tested the effects of seven life domain satisfactions that have been co...

Mineralogical studies for the <~2 ~ fractions are presented for seventeen soil profiles and two surface horizon samples, which represent eight soil types and five geological regions in the state. There was no evidence of clay mineral formation in the upper 6 feet or more of soil. X-ray diffraction data from the Lufkin, Ruston anr Katy soils suggested some decomposition of montmorillonite and ka...
