Alteration of Pulmonary Venous Flow Doppler Post Transcatheter Closure of Atrial Septal Defect

چکیده
Background: Atrial septal defect is a common congenital heart anomaly results in hemodynamically significant right ventriclular volume overload and an increase the pulmonary venous flow.
Aim: Evaluate changes of flow parameters after transcatheter closure secundum atrial defect.
Patients Methods: 50 patients with aged from 3.5 to 31 years were included study. Pulmonary Doppler ventricular function evaluated before successful by transthoracic transesophageal echocardiography.
Results: The size ranged 15 37mm mean (24.96 ±7.52), Normal systolic diastolic waves replaced continuous antegrade wave (mean 60±13.6 cm/s) all patients. Post-closure, normal pattern was regained, two separate waves, decrease peak Systolic velocity (44.54±8.12 cm/sec vs 69.61±12.37, P=0.000), Diastolic Wave (55.85±9.81 72.65±10.38, P=0.000) reversal (28.75±4.63cm/sec 21.18±3.64, P=0.000). In multivariate regression analysis, predictors haemodynamic ASD size,(odds ratio 1.508, P=0.007, 95% CI 1.153,2.671) ASD/IAS (odds 2.313, P=0.001, 1.064,3.104).
Conclusions: have characteristic pattern: predominance wave, which return closure. These could be helpful echocardiographic tool prediction defect.

critical pulmonary valve stenosis (cpvs) and atrial septal defect (asd) is an uncommon form of congenital heart disease. concurrent transcatheter pulmonary valvuplasty and closure of secundum atrial septal defect appears to be an interesting alternative to surgical correction. we present the simultaneous balloon valvuloplasty of critical pulmonary stenosis (ps) with supra systemic right ventric...
متن کامل[Transcatheter closure of atrial septal defect].
Isolated secundum atrial septal defect is one of the most common congenital heart defects. Surgical closure is the treatment of choice but is associated with a chest scar, some morbidity and a relatively long recovery and the use of cardiopulmonary bypass. Transcatheter closure of secundum atrial septal defect is therefore an attractive approach. 3 children, aged 5-10 years, underwent successfu...
متن کاملPulmonary venous flow in large, uncomplicated atrial septal defect.
BACKGROUND The pulmonary venous flow velocity pattern (PVFVP) in atrial septal defect (ASD) has not been previously studied in detail. Normally, PVFVP is primarily determined by the left heart performance. We hypothesized that the impact of left-sided heart dynamics on PVFVP is diminished in patients with ASD because of the presence of a left-to-right shunt into the low-resistance right side of...

OBJECTIVES To determine the effects of atrial septal defects (ASD) and their closure on systolic and diastolic right and left ventricular function; and by comparing surgical closure with transcatheter device closure, to establish differences attributable to cardiopulmonary bypass. DESIGN Cross sectionally guided M mode echocardiographic ventricular long axis function was measured prospectivel...

RATIONALE Iatrogenic atrial septal defects caused by cardiac surgery are rare complications that are traditionally repaired through reoperations; unfortunately, reoperations are accompanied by high risk and trauma. PATIENT CONCERNS Herein, we report a rare case of a huge atrial septal defect after mitral and aortic mechanical valve replacement. DIAGNOSES Transesophageal echocardiography rev...
