چکیده
BACKGROUND: Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) uptake may primarily cause adverse effects by inducing oxidative stress, resulting in cell damage, genotoxicity, inflammation, and immune response. To date, there are limited studies investigating the effect of TiO2 NPs on liver health no found a naturally occurring compound able to ameliorate such effect. Thus, this study investigated alpha lipoic acid (ALA) potential for reversing biochemical histopathological changes that exposure causes rat liver.METHODS: Thirty adult male albino rats were divided into: control received distilled water, treated with 50 mg/kg ALA, intoxicated NPs, NPs-intoxicated ALA. Rats sacrificed before blood samples collected assess function using parameters alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate (AST), total bilirubin, albumin protein. Liver tissue homogenates prepared hepatic antioxidant stress superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione (GSH), malondialdehyde (MDA). sections used analysis caspase-3 immunohistochemical analysis.RESULTS: produced deleterious tissue, as confirmed through results, immunohistochemistry, histological alterations. intoxication induced hepatocyte vacuolation, vessels congestion, biliary proliferation, apoptosis, fibrosis. However, ALA treatment significantly alleviated impact liver.CONCLUSION: Administration 600 resulted degenerative lesions, depletion GSH, apoptosis. these mitigated administration. Therefore, offers protection against intoxication.KEYWORDS: titanium nanoparticles, hepatotoxicity, alpha-lipoic (ALA),

Nasal and Pulmonary Toxicity of Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticles in Rats
In recent decades, titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles have been used in various applications, including paints, coatings, and food. However, data are lacking on the toxicological aspects associated with their use. The aim of this study was to assess the inhalation toxicity of TiO2 nanoparticles in rats by using inhalation exposure. Male Wistar rats were exposed to TiO2 nanoparticles for 2 we...
متن کاملAcute Toxicity of Intravenously Administered Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticles in Mice
BACKGROUND With a wide range of applications, titanium dioxide (TiO₂) nanoparticles (NPs) are manufactured worldwide in large quantities. Recently, in the field of nanomedicine, intravenous injection of TiO₂ nanoparticulate carriers directly into the bloodstream has raised public concerns on their toxicity to humans. METHODS In this study, mice were injected intravenously with a single dose o...

Introduction: This study evaluated the effects of pretreatments with melatonin (MT), and Alpha Lipoic acid (ALA) on lopinavir/ritonavir (LPV/r) -induced serum levels of creatinine (Cr), urea (U), uric acid (Ua) and kidney levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione (GSH) and catalase (CAT) in male albino rats. Effects of treatments with MT and ALA were also evaluate...
متن کاملToxicity and interaction of titanium dioxide nanoparticles with microtubule protein.
Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles (NPs) are widely used in several manufactured products. The small size of NPs facilitates their uptake into cells as well as transcytosis across epithelial cells into blood and lymph circulation to reach different sites, such as the central nervous system. Different studies have shown the risks that TiO2 NPs in the neuronal system and other organs present. ...
متن کاملAcute toxicity of titanium dioxide nanoparticles in Daphnia magna and Pontogammarus maeoticus
Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (nTiO2) are the world's second most widely consumed nanomaterial and large quantities of this material enters the aquatic ecosystem annually. Therefore, understanding the effects of nTiO2 on aquatic organisms is very important. The present study used Daphnia magna as a model freshwater organism and Pontogammarus maeoticus as a brackish water organism to evaluate s...
