A bstract The Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) offers a powerful theoretical framework for parameterizing the low-energy effects of heavy new particles with masses far above scale electroweak symmetry breaking. Additional light degrees freedom extend effective theory. We show that are weakly coupled to SM via non-renormalizable interactions induce non-zero Wilson coefficients in SMEFT Lagrangian renormalization-group evolution. For well-motivated example axions and axion-like (ALPs) interacting classically shift-invariant dimension-5 interactions, we calculate how these contribute one-loop renormalization dimension-6 operators, this running sources additional contributions on top those expected from states. As an application, study ALP magnetic dipole moment quark comment implications precision constraints couplings.
