All-fiber 2–6 <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline" id="d1e281" altimg="si4.svg"><mml:mrow><mml:mi mathvariant="normal">μ</mml:mi><mml:mi mathvariant="normal">m</mml:mi></mml:mrow></mml:math> coherent supercontinuum source based on chalcogenide fibers pumped by an amplified mid-IR soliton laser

We numerically and experimentally investigate an all-fiber configuration of coherent mid-infrared supercontinuum generation in the femtosecond pumping regime. In particular, we demonstrate advantageous combination various dispersion-engineered chalcogenide (Ge-Se-Te glass) fibers with a turn-key amplified fiber laser delivering 175-fs soliton pulses around 3.4 μm developed from erbium-doped fluoride technology. Our results show that compact octave-spanning sources centered on 2–5 infrared atmospheric window can be obtained maximum average power 50 mW at 25 MHz repetition rate.
