TOPIC: Imaging TYPE: Medical Student/Resident Case Reports INTRODUCTION: Patients with intravenous drug use are at risk for the development of air aneurysm through introduction air. In this report, we present a patient use-induced venous embolism without cerebral who had non-operative spontaneous resolution and was ultimately safely discharged home. CASE PRESENTATION: A 35-year-male ongoing illicit alcohol disorder, presented to emergency department after being unresponsive on floor prolonged period time. Patient found be in acute renal failure complicated by hyperkalemia rhabdomyolysis his urine toxicology positive cocaine. On physical examination, he noted disoriented, diaphoretic, signs anterior chest ecchymosis. During evaluation, contrast-enhanced CT imaging demonstrated right ventricle/right pericardium as well innominate vein internal mammary vein. Head revealed no evidence embolism. managed metabolic derangements failure. His hospitalization compartment syndrome upper extremity, requiring surgical decompression. remained hemodynamically stable able DISCUSSION: Venous (VAE) is condition which or gas introduced system. Although it most commonly associated iatrogenic complications via interventional procedures, can caused from variety circumstances including penetrating trauma, diving, use. VAE cases typically asymptomatic going unreported generally incidentally. Where symptoms present, they usually nonspecific prompt further investigation. Complications fatal embolize pulmonary where suspected, Trendelenburg left lateral decubitus positioning help allow stabilization emboli within apex ventricle reduces outflow tract obstruction. suspected etiology, counseling close monitoring important prevent progression recurrence VAE. CONCLUSIONS: history IV recent medical interventions have higher risks embolism, rare but potentially condition. Clinicians must high index suspicion those populations ensure investigation intervention. REFERENCE #1: 1. Groell, Reinhard, et al. . Venous Air Embolism During Operative
C6mplications of hysteroscopy occur more frequently in operative than in diagnostic cases. Problems related to‘uterine distension are common, usually preventable, and potentially extremely serious. Perforation of the LFXIS may occur during hysteroscopy but do not always cause significant problems. In procedures of high risk i,r perforation the use of mechanical energy is safer than either laser...
متن کاملCentral venous air embolism without a catheter.
Venous air embolism is a well-recognized complication of central venous catheterization. Although previous reports have documented venous air embolism occurring in a number of ways, including during initial catheterization, when catheters crack or are disconnected, and after catheter removal, no reports mention the possibility of air embolism occurring when a guide wire without a catheter was i...

provided the original work is properly cited. CC Venous air embolism (VAE) often occurs in the operating theatre. Squeals have not been reported much in most recovering patients. Our patient recovered from a venous air embolism during surgery but experienced cardiac arrest in the intensive care unit the next day, and died. A review of the chest X-ray revealed pulmonary edema and intracardiac ai...
متن کاملVenous air embolism during home infusion therapy.
Venous air embolism (VAE) is a potential complication of surgical procedures as well as central venous access. There are several reports in the literature of VAE during the in-hospital use and placement of central venous access. However, we are unaware of previous cases of VAE in children who received home infusion therapy via central venous access. We report the occurrence of a VAE in a 2-year...

Air embolism is one of the most fearful and fatal complications of pneumotherapy in tuberculosis.1 Air entering the circulation in the course of artificial pneumothorax, generally proceeds by way of the pulmonary veins to the left side of the heart and thence to the systemic circulation, producing the characteristic symptomatology of organ ischemia or infarction especially myocardial or cerebra...
