Agro-Waste Biochar to Reduce the Leaching of Heavy Metals from Coal Fly Ash Amended Soil

نویسندگان

چکیده

The soils added with coal fly ash may contain heavy metals potentially up to the levels of toxicity. Biochars have been successfully used in past reduce bioavailability and leaching contaminated soils. Therefore, co-application biochar together could positively change characteristics sandy through various fixing mechanisms. In present study, authors investigated effect agro-waste modifying loss from Column tests simulated rainfall conditions were conducted for Ultisol mixed avocado branch cut biomass at 5 tons/ha rate. results showed presence leachate soil. Application significantly reduced leachability all tested study. reduction rates 55% compared non-amended samples. can effective be stabilizing soils, minimize risk environmental contamination.

Study of Remediation of Soil Contamined with Heavy Metals by Coal Fly Ash

The labile fraction of heavy metals in soils is the most important for toxicity for plants. Thus it is crucial to reduce this fraction in contamined soils to decrease the negative effect of heavy metals. In an experiment, the effects of two additives on the labile fractions of Cu, Mn and Zn were investigated in a soil contamined during long-term application. The additive used was the coal fly a...

Leaching Characteristics of Fluoride from Coal Fly Ash

Leaching of fluoride from fly ash has been studied at different ash/water ratios and temperatures and also over a broad range of pH. The efficiency of leaching was only slightly dependent on the ash/water ratio, thus revealing a solubilitycontrolled mechanism of the process. The efficiency was also independent of the temperature over the range 20 90°C.

Chemical Stabilization of Some Heavy Metals in an Artificially Multi-Elements Contaminated Soil, Using Rice Husk Biochar and Coal Fly Ash

A greenhouse experiment has been planned for this study to delineate the benefits of two types of rice husk biochars (namely B300 and B600 which are prepared at 300°C and 600°C, respectvely) and coal fly ash (CFA), as soil amendments, for decreasing the amount of some heavy metals (like Pb, Cd, Ni, Cr, and Cu) as well as mobility and phytoavailability in an artificially-calcareous multi-element...

Atrazine leaching from biochar-amended soils.

The herbicide atrazine is used extensively throughout the United States, and is a widespread groundwater and surface water contaminant. Biochar has been shown to strongly sorb organic compounds and could be used to reduce atrazine leaching. We used lab and field experiments to determine biochar impacts on atrazine leaching under increasingly heterogeneous soil conditions. Application of pine ch...
