چکیده
Abstract The aging immune system responds poorly to infection and vaccination, producing reduced numbers of germinal centers, low affinity antibody titers, B cell memory. Prolonged contacts between activated cells CD4+ T are crucial center formation follicular helper (Tfh) differentiation, but it is unclear how impacts the quality this interaction. Peptide immunization confirmed that aged mice have less expansion antigen-specific titers. Furthermore, was associated with decreased conventional accumulated Tfh regulatory cells, even in naïve mice. Despite increased numbers, our results indicate metabolic function, which may repercussions on responses. To determine contribution cell-extrinsic influences induction, we adoptively transferred young, into hosts prior peptide immunization, resulted titers when compared young hosts. from these experiments emphasize importance lymphoid microenvironment initiation maintenance. We hypothesize age-associated accumulation impair induction subsequent Current studies use live-cell 2-photon microscopy track impact age lymphocyte motility Tfh:B interactions, order relative contributions APCs, non-specific Tfh, deficiency. Frequency of Efficient Circulating Follicular Helper T Cells Correlates with Dyslipidemia and WBC Count in Atherosclerosis
Background: The significance of cTfh cells and their subsets in atherosclerosis is not well understood. We measured the frequency of cTfh subsets in patients with different degrees of stenosis using flow-cytometry. Methods: Participants included high (≥50%; n = 12) and low (<50%; n = 12) stenosis groups, as well as healthy controls (n = 6). Results: The frequency of CCR7loPD-1hiefficient-cTfh w...
متن کاملImpaired Function of CD4+ T Follicular Helper (Tfh) Cells Associated with Hepatocellular Carcinoma Progression
BACKGROUND AND AIMS CD4+ T follicular helper (Tfh) cells, a new subset of immune cells, have been demonstrated to be involved in the development and prognosis of tumors. However, their functional role in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is relatively unknown, and the detailed mechanisms in HCC development remain to be described. METHODS A total of 85 HCC patients with hepatitis B virus (H...

CD4(+)T follicular helper (Tfh) cells are recognized as a distinct T-cell subset, which provides help for germinal center (GC) formation, B-cell development and affinity maturation, and immunoglobulin class switching, as an indispensable part of adaptive immunity. Tfh cell differentiation depends on various factors including cell-surface molecule interactions, extracellular cytokines and multip...
متن کاملIncreased circulating follicular helper T cells with decreased programmed death-1 in chronic renal allograft rejection
BACKGROUND Chronic antibody-mediated rejection is a major issue that affects long-term renal allograft survival. Since follicular helper T (Tfh) cells promote the development of antigen-specific B cells in alloimmune responses, we investigated the potential roles of Tfh cells, B cells and their alloimmune-regulating molecules in the pathogenesis of chronic renal allograft rejection in this stud...
متن کاملDecreased Frequencies of Circulating CD4+ T Follicular Helper Cells Associated with Diminished Plasma IL-21 in Active Pulmonary Tuberculosis
BACKGROUND Circulating T follicular helper (Tfh) cells represent a distinct subset of CD4+ T cells and are important in immunity to infections. Although they have been shown to play a role in experimental models of tuberculosis infection, their role in human tuberculosis remains unexplored. AIMS/METHODOLOGY To determine the distribution of circulating Tfh cells in human TB, we measured the fr...
