چکیده

Abstract The doncella Pseudoplatystoma punctifer is an economically and ecologically important catfish in the Amazon basin. However, little known about its age, growth population dynamics parameters. This study aims to validate formation of marks vertebrae individuals collected from two rivers systems Peruvian (Amazon-Marañón-Ucayali Putumayo) compare parameters using von Bertalanffy function between sexes systems. A total 372 Amazon-Marañón-Ucayali (AMU) system 93 Putumayo River were analyzed. one ring per year was validated individual ages ranged zero nine years old. Females grew significantly larger than males both Both females better AMU River. Maximum observed length size at maturity lower those reported previous studies area, together with proportion juveniles catches, suggest that species heavily exploited. Further on reproductive biology are needed order implement management measures more line current situation.

Geographical genetics of Pseudoplatystoma punctifer (Castelnau, 1855) (Siluriformes, Pimelodidae) in the Amazon Basin.

Geographical genetics allows the evaluation of evolutionary processes underlying genetic variation within and among local populations and forms the basis for establishing more effective strategies for biodiversity conservation at the population level. In this study, we used explicit spatial analyses to investigate molecular genetic variation (estimated using 7 microsatellite markers) of Pseudop...

Genetic divergence between Pseudoplatystoma corruscans and Pseudoplatystoma reticulatum (Siluriformes: Pimelodidae) in the Paraná River Basin.

Pseudoplatystoma corruscans (Spix and Agassiz, 1829) and Pseudoplatystoma reticulatum (Eingenmann and Eigenmann, 1889) are large migratory catfishes of high biological importance and great commercial value in South America. Because fertile crossbreeds can be artificially produced in hatcheries, a high genetic proximity between these two Pimelodidae species is conceivable. Possible escape of cro...

investigation of single-user and multi-user detection methods in mc-cdma systems and comparison of their performances

Tapeworms (Cestoda: Proteocephalidea) of firewood catfish Sorubimichthys planiceps (Siluriformes: Pimelodidae) from the Amazon River.

A survey of proteocephalidean cestodes found in the firewood catfish Sorubimichthys planiceps (Spix et Agassiz) from the Amazon River is provided. The following taxa parasitic in S. planiceps are redescribed on the basis of their type specimens and material collected recently in the Amazon River, near the type localities in Brazil, and in Iquitos, Peru: Monticellia lenha Woodland, 1933; Nomimos...
