چکیده
Hepatitis in dogs could be due to infectious, toxic or metabolic causes. Among infectious causes, leptospira, canine adenovirus (CAV 1) and babesia are responsible at varying levels, depending on the local geo-climatic conditions. This study, conducted 40 with clinical signs of hepatitis Thrissur, Kerala, revealed occurrence 2.5 per cent (1/40) for CAV 1, 20 (8/40) leptospirosis 22.5 (9/40) babesiosis. The aetiologies were confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) targeting E3 gene microscopic agglutination test (MAT) peripheral blood smear examination Haematological profile 1 infected animals thrombocytopaenia, lymphopaenia, monocytopaenia granulocytosis. Serum biochemical analysis divulged elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aspartate (AST), total bilirubin creatinine, decreased protein albumin. Significant decrease volume packed red cells (VPRC), haemoglobin (Hb) erythrocyte count (TEC), significant increase leukocyte (TLC) evident positive leptospirosis. ALP, AST urea nitrogen (BUN) protein. Severe anaemia thrombocytopenia mild leucocytosis ALP bilirubin, hypoproteinemia noticed

Aim: To study the seroprevalence of leptospirosis in dogs in Kerala and to identify the most prevalent serovar. Materials and Methods: A total of 205 sera collected from dogs were screened for the presence of antibodies against leptospirosis by Microscopic Agglutination Test (MAT). Results: A seroprevalence rate of 71.12 per cent was observed. Leptospira interrogans serovar Autumnalis was found...
متن کاملPrevalence of Canine Monocytic Ehrlichiosis in Canine Population across India
Canine ehrlichiosis is a very important emerging disease in India. This study is the first attempt screening a large number of canines in India for the detection of canine monocytic ehrlichiosis. In the present study, 510 blood samples of dogs were screened for the presence of Ehrlichia canis and other variants of Anaplasmataceae family by serological and molecular methods.Out of the 510 serum ...
متن کاملAetiopathology and genetic basis of neonatal diabetes.
A British Paediatric Association Surveillance Unit* study of neonatal diabetes determined a national incidence of 1 in 400,000 live births. Additional cases of transient neonatal diabetes were collected retrospectively. Most cases were of low birthweight at term: none had evidence of an autoimmune aetiopathogenesis. The median requirement for exogenous insulin treatment was three months. A sign...
متن کاملIdentification of a canine adenovirus (infectious canine hepatitis virus) inhibitor in dog liver extracts as arginase.
Extracts of canine liver inhibited growth of infectious canine hepatitis (ICH) virus, a canine adenovirus. Purified extracts from mammalian, but not avian, liver tissue contained the inhibitor, and evidence is presented that the inhibitory factor is the enzyme arginase (arginine ureohydrolase). This study further emphasized the need for arginine in adenovirus growth and may explain some of the ...
