Aesthetic appealing wall insulation: A novel approach for uptake of solid wall insulation in the UK

Solid wall dwellings in the UK are urgent need for energy retrofit to support achieving net-zero strategies building sector and reduce fuel poverty. Several barriers a cause of uncertainty householders about Wall 1nsulation (SWI) slow down progress. This paper aims examine people's perceptions possible inclusion aesthetics elements Internal Insulation (IWI), providing suitable solution promote insulation intake attractiveness. To achieve this aim, first, current literature is critically reviewed analysed highlight gap between studies design/aesthetic features SWI retrofit. Then, an online survey conducted, collected data analysed. The results show that aesthetic factor very important participants with more than 90% agreement. level agreement as high other well-known critical factors renovation such cost saving. Also, integration IWI can surpasses negative concerns or losing internal space. Furthermore, over 2/3rd suggested business model delivering both improvement combined plans by established approved organizations. It concluded priority encouraging increase success. Finally, findings from research pointed how industry, policymakers, designers should evolve benefits SWI.
