Aerial Computing: A New Computing Paradigm, Applications, and Challenges

In existing computing systems, such as edge and cloud computing, several emerging applications practical scenarios are mostly unavailable or only partially implemented. To overcome the limitations that restrict applications, development of a comprehensive paradigm has garnered attention in both academia industry. However, gap exists literature owing to scarce research, is yet be systematically designed reviewed. This study introduces novel concept, called aerial via amalgamation radio access networks which attempts bridge gap. Specifically, first, we propose architecture composed low-altitude high-altitude satellite platforms, along with conventional systems. We determine offers desirable attributes: global service, better mobility, higher scalability availability, simultaneity. Second, comprehensively discuss key technologies facilitate including energy refilling, network softwarization, frequency spectrum, multi-access techniques, artificial intelligence, big data. addition, vertical domain (e.g., smart cities, vehicles, factories, grids) supported by computing. Finally, highlight challenges need addressed their possible solutions.
