Aerial Close-Range Photogrammetry to Quantify Deformations of the Pile Retaining Walls

Today, as structures with life expectancy of more than 100 years are being constructed, it is vital to gain knowledge about the gradual decline in material properties. Accordingly, ensure longevity and safety these structures, monitoring has been incorporated a fundamental part their service life. To monitor structural deformation, various methods have developed, most common survey certain points structure during after construction using total station. New techniques now one promising ones photogrammetry because provides simple method unmanned air vehicles (UAVs). This paper aimed at sharing strategic steps followed deflection secant pile retaining wall excavation basement. The performed commercial UAV combination point cloud formation, georeferencing, comparison software (cloud compare, I-Site Studio, 3D Reshaper, etc.). results show very good agreement traditional inclinometer measurements numerical analysis, thereby demonstrating feasibility proposed method. authors believe that future, UAVs can become standard for geotechnical its speed, lower cost ease use, when compared conventional methods, non-destructive method, easy learn use.
