Aeolian Erosion Thresholds for Cohesive Sand

Moisture is known to affect sand cohesion and therefore transport threshold rate of aeolian transport. Aeolian has been widely documented for dry beds, but much more sparsely in the context moist beds. One major challenge collection reliable field or laboratory data have an accurate control moisture level within bed, which prone strongly vary over time space due evaporation. To suppress variability content evaporation, we devised a new approach based on use non-volatile liquid (namely silicon oil instead water) ensures proper content. We thus conducted wind-tunnel experiments employing this observed that aerodynamic friction velocity increases linearly with content, while dynamic found be unchanged range strength investigated study.
