pH-dependent effects of local anaesthetics in perturbing lipid membranes.
The effects of local anaesthetics lidocaine, benzocaine, carbisocaine and carbisocaine derivatives, KaQ-7 and Ka-O, in perturbing bovine brain lipid membranes or egg lecithin membranes were compared at pH 6.0; 7.0; and 8.0. The electron spin resonance method with stearic acid labeled at carbon position 16 as the spin probe was employed. The perturbation effects of lidocaine and Ka-O were found ...
متن کاملParaesthesia after local anaesthetics: an analysis of reports to the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System.
This study was aimed to evaluate the possible alert signals of paraesthesia by local anaesthetics, focusing on those used in dentistry. A case/non-case study of spontaneous adverse events recorded in FAERS (FDA Adverse Event Reporting System) between 2004 and 2011 was performed. Cases were represented by the reports of reactions grouped under the term 'Paraesthesias and dysaesthesias' involving...
متن کاملA comparison of local anaesthetics for venepuncture.
AIM To compare the effectiveness of EMLA cream and Ametop gel in providing analgesia for venous cannulation. METHODS Single blind study in 120 children. RESULTS Both anaesthetic agents produced adequate analgesia. However, Ametop gel was more effective, with a statistically significant difference in the pain scores of the two groups (p < 0.05).

and Md., Eight synthetic local anaesthetics from among (he Propiophenones, Benzil and Phenoxy derivatives and derivatives of Benzyl alcohol wen' examined for their arrhvthmia combating activity. Against acetylcholine induced auricular fibrillation U·0045 showed maximum activity and U -0172, U·OI77, U-OS75 and Lignocaine were more active than quinidine. In aconitine induced fibrillation li.OI77,...
متن کاملPeriodic Classification of Local Anaesthetics (Procaine Analogues)
Algorithms for classification are proposed based on criteria (information entropy and its production). The feasibility of replacing a given anaesthetic by similar ones in the composition of a complex drug is studied. Some local anaesthetics currently in use are classified using characteristic chemical properties of different portions of their molecules. Many classification algorithms are based ...
