Advances in wood drying research and development

Wood drying is a key operation of wood processing to ensure that the retains its physical integrity and stability in remanufacturing use. However, industrial various defects still occur, which include uneven moisture content between within boards, board distortion, residual stresses may induce internal external checking, collapse. This paper presents review on advances research development, lay foundation for better understanding process, mechanisms defect occurrence affecting factors. In particular, recent progresses stress development collapse formation during are presented more details. Based these advances, inter-linkage interactions analyzed among microstructural properties, movement drying, reversal, formation. Following this, schedule improvements novel technologies with targets mitigate defects, reduce energy consumption increase productivity. Application artificial intelligence modeling control timber also briefly described. Finally, recommendations made future studies practical implementation.
